Safari Blu – Sardegna 2 (Marine National Park)

Watamu Marine National Park, Dabaso ward, Kilifi North, Kilifi, Kenya

About this experience

Depart around 08:30 from Vinrosa House and board a traditional wooden, glass-bottom boat with sunshade. Cruise into the Watamu Marine National Park for an easy, guided snorkel above bright coral gardens and tropical fish; with a bit of luck, you may spot dolphins along the way.

As the tide drops, the boat sets course for Sardegna 2—a dazzling white-sand bank that emerges at low tide, ringed by the clearest blue-green water. Swim, sunbathe and take photos while our crew grills a fresh seafood lunch served on board; soft drinks are included. In the late afternoon, we head back to Watamu and return to Vinrosa House.

Highlights

  • Glass-bottom boat to the Marine Park’s coral gardens (great even if you don’t snorkel).
  • Chance to see dolphins seasonally on the way to the reef (not guaranteed).
  • Sardegna 2 sandbank at low tide: pristine sand, calm water, panoramic views.
  • Fresh seafood lunch with soft drinks included.

Itinerary at a glance

  1. Pick-up at Vinrosa House; transfer to the marina.
  2. Marine Park: glass-bottom viewing + guided snorkeling over the coral gardens.
  3. Sardegna 2: sandbank time for swimming, relaxing and photos; lunch served from the boat.
  4. Return to Vinrosa House in the late afternoon.

Good to know

  • Tides matter: Sardegna 2 appears at low tide; exact timing and sandbank size vary daily.
  • Marine life and dolphin activity are seasonal and not guaranteed.
  • Park regulations protect the reef—please avoid touching coral and use reef-safe sunscreen.
